Summer School

1st FAMOS Summer School

The first FAMOS Summer School was held from July 14th to 18th, 2025, at the University of Florence, Italy, with 14 participants from Italy, Cyprus, Poland, Norway, the United Kingdom, Tunisia, Germany, Greece, France, and Azerbaijan. The program covered Ocean Waves, Marine Renewables and Converters, Floating Structures, and Stakeholder Engagement.

The program combined lectures and hands-on sessions to impart knowledge and develop practical skills for participants. While it was particularly tailored for Master’s and PhD students, the summer school was open to anyone interested in these topics.

Feedback from participants

Marek Harenda

Experiment Science Center

Poland

“As an oceanographer coming from the Earth sciences rather than engineering, it was a great pleasure to take part in such a forward-looking event. I had the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in the field of marine engineering, meet renowned researchers, and connect with inspiring young minds who may one day help shape ambitious projects like floating islands. The beautiful setting of Florence made the experience even more memorable — a perfect backdrop for innovation and collaboration.”
